  I didn't get to play School Sports :-( ...did you?

  just started watching 'friday night lights' .... great show, but it's making me a little bitter!

  17 years after high school, i am still bummed i didn't get to play football or baseball.

  i knew my elder dad would get busted from the others in the elders club.

  NO, I was also part of the Caleb class. However, my kids do participate in extra curricular activities. I think they teach such great lessons about winning, losing, working with others, supporting others, and trying your best.

  Interestingly enough, my brother (who is a current elder) allows his daughter (a pre-teen) to play soccer. I'm thrilled that he is doing that but have no idea how he hasn't been deleted.

  I will say that I've had numerous JWs who know my kids participate approach me with questions and want to allow their kids. Almost to a person, these folks are born-ins who didn't get a chance to participate in things they would enjoy. The advice I've given is to all them to do it, just don't advertise it.

  Now with only 1 meeting night a week, it makes it much easier to find an activity that doesn't conflict. Sure beats Family Worship (tm)

  I'll bet the open mocking of their hard work has to be burning up the folks at Bethel. LOLOLOLOL

  You guys did a fantastic job with this. I've been keeping up with all the Sparlock threads and tracking on twitter & facebook. On twitter, this thing is starting to get picked up by what appears to be folks that have no previous experience with JWs. What a fine witness indeed!

  TOH - Interesting that you chose CoC to make your point. A quick internet search reveals them to be every bit the cult that JWs are. Obviously few here care what the CoC teaches but it is fair to point out that other religions besides JWs use Kittel as a reference source.

  At least they actually named him instead of using the "one scholar" reference.

  If I were writing a religious article (or any article for that matter), I'd probably refrain from using a Nazi war criminal as a reference source unless the article was specifically about Nazi Germany. I wouldn't want people to associate my name with such a person.

  i've been receiving very bitter messages from jws i know, mostly my mother, but also others that know how to contact me electronically.

  sometimes i find myself mad at her, though not displaying it.

  but i know it's really not her or my fathers fault.

  I'm angry with myself. I had numerous chances to escape but didn't. I had a co-worker back when I was 20 or 21 years old give me one of Randy's tracts, I think it was "what happened at Bethel in 1980" or something like that. Instead of reading it, I dismissed it immediately. I could have researched, instead I blindly went along with the religion of my family.

  Yes, the GB lies on a regular basis, but I really hate the fact that I fell for it. I will never again believe anyone who claims to speak for God.

  the etan patz story was huge when i was a kid in the 70's.

  very scary, parents didn't let kids out of their sight.

  james - that's how I read it as well. As others have mentioned, he'll likely be tied to JWs even if its his wife and daughter that are the ones who are JWs. It will be interesting as the case unfolds.
